Madison Landing  • Madison, Connecticut

Essex. Guilford. Old Lyme. Old Saybrook. Stonington. Madison. These coastal towns evoke the character, strength, and beauty of one of America's great regions. They also served as the inspiration for a planned traditional neighborhood in Connecticut that was heralded by many as a gold standard for responsible coastal development. Bordering the Hammonasset River and Long Island Sound, Madison Landing was very carefully designed to protect the site's sensitive ecosystem by some of the country's most respected environmental consultants. An extraordinary group of architects and planners, led by Duany Plater-Zyberk & Company and Robert Orr & Associates, also collaborated on the design of this new neighborhood. Ultimately the decision was made to preserve this extraordinary site exclusively for public use, a process in which LeylandAlliance worked closely with the Town of Madison and the Trust for Public Land.
